Aligned Agility Ltd is a specialist consulting organisation helping people in high-tech and other knowledge based organisations to work together more effectively. Established in 2001 by Geoff Marlow, formerly Corporate Director for transformational change and head of innovation leadership at a 3,500 person $600M+ global management consulting firm, our network of consultants, coaches and change catalysts extends from our home base in Europe’s high-tech capital of Cambridge UK throughout Europe, the US and Asia.

Lao Tzu, the Taoist philosopher said that the worst leader is the one the people fear; next is the one they admire; but of the best leader, when the work is done, the people say ‘we did it ourselves’. We think the same is true of consultants. We do not deploy large teams of consultants but instead help our clients’ own people to discover and overcome the barriers and the - often unconscious - self imposed limitations that prevent them from working more effectively together. As a networked organisation our clients benefit from our ability to tailor our approach to match their needs, budget and level of change readiness, providing highly focused and cost-effective support.

Each client situation is unique and we tailor our approach to suit the explicit and implicit needs as these emerge and evolve during the work, typically in one of three modes: troubleshooting, teambuilding and transformation:

Troubleshooting

In troubleshooting mode, we help you to tackle a specific issue, challenge or problem requiring rapid resolution.

When we work with you in this mode, we apply our experience and expertise to the issue at hand, with limited focus on increasing the capacity of your organisation to solve similar problems in future. Your organisation benefits directly from our full attention on resolving the issue at hand, but you build only a very limited enterprise capacity to apply the approach thereafter.

Teambuilding

In teambuilding mode we help you to create sustained improvements within and around specific teams, processes or client relationships of key importance to your organisation.

When we work with you in teambuilding mode, we help build capacity amongst key people within and around a focused area of your organisation. We then coach and support the team members, internal leaders, coaches and relevant others so that they rapidly benefit in the real day-to-day work that they are responsible for within the organisation.

In this way, your benefit from building capacity, strength and depth within and around key aspects of your organisation. As well as the direct benefits to local performance, teambuilding creates islands or ‘stepping stones’ of improvement and provides an economical way to local performance as a platform for global performance improvement and future growth.

Transformation

In this mode we help you to take on the ultimate leadership challenge - embedding alignment and agility throughout your organisation.

When we work with you in transformation mode, we help you devise and enact an integrated set of focused troubleshooting and teambuilding initiatives led by people within your organisation. We coach established and future leaders and help you to develop internal coaches who can continue to support transformational change. We help you to embed alignment and agility at the heart of the organisation at a pace that suits your situation, aspirations and needs, building on your unique existing strengths.

Few organisations clients will attempt transformational change without first building experience and internal capacity in teambuilding and troubleshooting modes. However, when faced with and urgent need to change, we can help you devise and enact an approach that starts small and scales fast.
